Founded in 1923 by writer Henry Collins Brown, the Museum of the City of New York started in Gracie Mansion before relocating to its Georgian Colonial-Revival building on Fifth Avenue in 1932. Over decades, it has amassed a remarkable collection of around 750,000 objects, including Eugene O’Neill’s manuscripts, Jacob Riis glass negatives, Duncan Phyfe furniture, and the Carrie Walter Stettheimer dollhouse. A true treasure trove of New York City history!
