In celebration of The New Yorker's hundredth anniversary, we're delighted to present this reimagined chess set that captures the true spirit of New York City.
This special edition features the city’s landmarks as chess pieces — from the ever-watchful Statue of Liberty as the Queen to pigeons flying in as Knights, and the hustle of yellow cabs as Pawns. Each piece represents a part of New York’s vibrant character, creating a playful tribute to the city that never sleeps. The Chess Set is Illustrated by Christoph Niemann, a recurring contributor to The New Yorker.
